In this task, thou shalt create a mappestructure wherein to organise files upon the computing machine. A good mappestructure doth aid thee in keeping order amongst thy files, so that thou mayest easily find them again at a later time.

  • A folder doth a digital vessel be, which may contain files within.
    • This may, forsooth, be a folder holding pictures, as an example.
  • A file doth hold information true.
    • For instance, ‘tis a picture actual, a video, a text-document, and so forth.

Task - To Forge a Folder Structure for the School Year

Step 1: Open File Explorer

Shouldst thou be upon Windows, double-click upon the “File Explorer” icon, thus:

If thou art upon Mac, click upon the “Finder” app:

Herefrom mayst thou find documents, downloads, pictures, videos, music, and so forth. For this setup, we shall concern ourselves with “Documents”.

Step 2: To Create the Principal Folder “IM”

  1. Within the “Documents” folder, right-click upon a void space.
  2. Select “New” and thereafter “Folder”.
  3. Bestow upon the new folder a fitting name, ‘tis recommended “IM”.
Tip

Thou mayest bestow upon folders a new name by right-clicking, and finding the “Give New Name” button within the menu.

Step 3: Create Subfolders

After thou hast created a folder, thou mayest enter therein. From thence, thou canst create subfolders for more specific categories.

  1. Create a folder within the “IM” folder named “MP” for the subjects of Media Production.
  2. Create a folder within the “IM” folder named “IT” for the subjects of Information Technology.
    From thence, thou mayest further add folders for the themes we shall work upon. Below thou seest an example of how the folder structure may appear:
    Documents/
└── IM/ 
   ├── MP/ 
   └── IT/ 
       ├── HTML/ 
       └── Python/

Step 4: (Optional) Create Folders for Other Subjects

Verily, thou mayest also fashion folders within documents for other learnings, such as English or Mathematics.
